Sendero Farm Urban Garden
San Juan Capistrano, California
The Community Garden is a new 34,000 square foot sustainable farm within the Sendero Community in San Juan Capistrano developed by Rancho Mission Viejo. Borders Architects worked with Landscape Architect Brightview and the developer to design the buildings on the site. The Farm facility includes amenities such as a children’s play area, outdoor dining patio, bathroom facility, and large barn with walk in cooler.
Designed as a resident amenity within an undeveloped parcel of the neighborhood by turning it into a production farming and programming space, it meets the ecological protection requirements of the nearby San Juan River. Sendero Farm provides farming opportunities to more than 60 community households each month. Seasonal and special events are hosted at the site and the development donates a portion of the food to a community food pantry.
