Costa Mesa Permanent Bridge Shelter
Permanent Bridge Shelter
Costa Mesa, CA
The 72-bed shelter was designed and constructed inside of an existing warehouse building. The 12,285-SF shelter space included a client intake area, staff offices, fully equipped commercial kitchen, living quarters for men and women, laundry facilities, counseling rooms and outdoor spaces. The remaining 14,000 SF space within the warehouse is a rentable tenant space. Careful design consideration was given to create a functional, warm, and inviting interior for the shelter clients as they transition to more permanent housing solutions. This shelter serves the communities of Costa Mesa and Newport Beach and was awarded Outstanding Small Project by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
